Top FireFox Add-Ons For Twitter Reviewed
Ever Since I stopped using TwitterFox (due to issues), I’ve been trying to find alternative add-ons for Twitter on Firefox. I managed to find two of them. Here’s a review of all three of the Firefox add-ons for Twitter (including TwitterFox). Here You Go:
TwitterFox – http://www.twitterfox.net
Pros:
1) Lightweight. Accomodates on the status bar.
2) Updates new tweets all at once, for easy browsing.
3) Posts tweets real quick.
4) Cute Interface! ![]()
5) Pop-up alerts for new tweets. (if activated)
Cons:
1) Version 1.8. This version made my browser so bulky that it started hanging every 15 minutes (like I mentioned in my last post). The culprit being its ability to load more than 200 tweets on each update. Earlier it used to do only 20 which worked fine. This is the only major glitch (I really cared about) in the add-on. I hope TwitterFox guys fix this soon.
Comments – I loved this app until the last update.
TwitBin – http://twitbin.com/
Pros:
1) Pretty clean interface.
2) Ability To Upload Pics from within.
3) Ability to add custom tabs for other Tweeps.
4) Shows the public timeline.
5) Posts the tweet, relatively fast.
Cons:
1) Shows ads on the @replies and DM tabs.
2) Loads new messages one by one, when you refresh messages. (I really don’t like this!)
3) Uses a lot of space.
Comments – Kinda ok. ‘Nuff said.
TwitKit – http://engel.uk.to/twitkit/
Pros:
1) Tweets quick.
2) Ability to choose between 4 different link cloakers and themes.
Cons:
1) Uses a lot of space.
2) Ugly interface. Everything seems out of order.
3) I don’t get what “User” and “Followers” tabs are for.
4) Have to click refresh twice before it loads your DMs and @replies.
5) When I clicked on the arrow to the top-left corner, it crashed Firefox. (Dammit!)
Comments – This add-on is useless. Don’t waste your time trying out this one.
Final say:
I think I’ma have to go with TwitBin until they fix TwitterFox. And I really hope they do it!
